Quick Tip: Colorize Grep

Just saw this quick tip under the Linux News feed: Colorize grep output.

To summarize, add the following to your ~/.bashrc 

export GREP_COLOR='1;34'
alias grep='grep --color=auto'

 

This will make the grepped text blue. The article gives all the details of the various colors. Very nice, and really goes hand-in-hand with the Colorful man pages in Linux - ubuntu tips post.
